Volunteering to help

Thanks for coming this far... There are lots of ways you can volunteer to help us run our Beaver Colony, Cub Pack, or Scout Troop...

Our group is based in Summerston, Maryhill, Glasgow.

You can get involved as a non-uniformed helper, for example, working with the kids some evenings at the Colony, Pack, or Troop meetings. Or you can become a uniformed member, for example Assistant Cub Scout Leader. You don't need to attend every week... we all just do what we can! Or you can offer help with a particular event or activity on an 'occasional' basis. Or maybe you can help by providing transport to and from events... However much or little time you can offer, there is bound to be some way you can help - ultimately benefiting the kids involved.

We've just started our Scout Troop again... and we're still looking for an Assistant Scout Leader. We're also on the look out for another Assistant Cub Scout Leader.

There are even ways you can help without any direct involvement with the kids if that's what you prefer.

Prior involvement within the Scouting Movement is NOT a requirement - anyone can get involved. Experience with kids is useful, but again, it's not essential. The Scout Association run training sessions and events, and we also all learn lots from each other.

Obviously, all volunteers will be subject to checks for child protection purposes prior to taking up post. The Scout Association issues clear instructions to all volunteers, known as the Yellow Card. These guidelines help protect the children in our care, and they also help prevent volunteers from being in a position where a false allegation could be made.

Volunteering in Scouting is very rewarding... just look at the smiles on their faces!

Get in touch by emailing us for further details, then we can arrange to chat about how you can help! We'll get back to you as soon as possible.

We look forward to hearing from you!!
