Shine a Light

‘Shine a Light’ is a documentary film concerning, not gu10 bulbs, but The Rolling Stones’ on their A Bigger Bang Tour in 2006 at Beacon Theatre. Directed by Martin Scorsese, the film also includes archive footage from the band’s career as a whole.

Scorsese filmed The Rolling Stones on 29th October and 1st November 2006 and solely utilised footage from the second performance for the film. Archival interviews with the band members are intermittently included throughout the film. The shows were performed with the film in mind, scheduled for this and slightly different to the other performances of the tour, for example, the shows had a very different set list. In the audience, there were rather a few celebrities. Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary Clinton were watching as was the former President of Poland, Aleksander Kwasniewski.

The Beacon Theatre performances raised money for the charity, Clinton Foundation. The film was dedicated to Ahmet Ertegün, the executive of Atlantic Records, who died shortly after the Beacon Theatre shows.
